Car Seat Headrest is a great name for a band. It is also the musical alias of a one Will Toledo, which is also a good name. I don’t know why you’d bother coming up with an alias with a cool name like that, maybe it’s an artsy thing. Anyway, I really like this track – it builds great towards the chorus, which is the real big payoff, where everything gets a bit nuts and you feel like you’d love to sing-along if you had any chance of picking out what the words were. Speaking of the sound, it does rather have the feel of locking The Strokes in a bedroom, asking them to play pop music, and then recording them from the next building over. If that sounds like the sort of thing that would interest you, then you may be on to a winner here. Lyrically its a bit pretentious, but apparently this chap is from Seattle and they don’t take you seriously there without a bit of pretension, so I’ll let him off. It’s a bit angsty, but it has a big enough sound that it’s easy to overlook that, and it evokes excitement pretty damn well, to me at least.
In the music video, some lads smash up an abandoned house before one of them gets dead.
